Étymol. ET HIST. — Apr. 1461 « action d'acquiescer » (G. CHASTELLAIN, Chr. des Ducs de Bourg., II, 25, Buchon ds GDF. Compl. : A la loy de nature et d'équité donnez acquiescence); absent de la lexicogr. des XVIIe et XVIIIe s. et mentionné seulement par LITTRÉ (sup.), DG et QUILLET. Selon BRUNOT t. 6, p. 1293, ce terme, au XVIIIe s., est tombé en désuétude et ,,fait partie des mots anciens et qui n'ont pas persisté``. Acquiescence a été supplanté par son synon. acquiescement.
